First Day (17th Ashadh, 2077)
On the very first day, respected teacher trainers inaugurated the Teachers Professional Development Training. The training session was inaugurated by the chief guest Chet Raj Pant sir. It was the first day of the training and some of the participants were unfamiliar about Zoom meeting application so Gangaram Ojha sir explained all the basic things about ZOOM application. He stated us how to mute audio to avoid unnecessary noise disturbance and disable live video to save mobile data. Later on Bhim Paneru sir also stated the basic norms of the training and need of training to the teachers.
Then after Navraj Pant sir started chis session about ‘Curriculum, textbook and Use of TG’. We also had open discussion on information gap activities, mind mapping activities along with groupwork, pair work, interview etc.
Second Day (18th Ashadh, 2077)
On the second day, we all the participants were divided into two groups: English and Mathematics. AS I am an English teacher, I was sent to English group. After diving the groups, respected teacher trainer Hom Raj Khadka sir started his session. His topic was ‘Web Tools for Enhancing ELT’. He defined web tools as programs, websites or online resources that can make tasks easier to complete. It makes use of a broad range of technology-enhanced educational strategies. In his session, he introduced us so many useful web tools for enhancing English language teaching. Some of the web tools stated by Hom sir were Nearpod for group discussion, phonetizer for transcription and pronunciation, natural readers for easy reading in various accents, and roadtogrammar.com for grammar quizzes and practices. He also shared so many other web tools for easy, interesting and fruitful teaching and learning process.
Then Nirmala Thagunna mam started her session in the TPD training. She was there to help us with ‘Vocabulary Teaching’. She defined vocabulary as set of words in particular language and it has two types as passive and active vocabulary. She explained that a teacher need to teach vocabulary in a context and allow students to see the words in action. She stated the importance of vocabulary teaching as according to Wilkins (1972) and Scrivener (1998), without vocabulary, grammar does not mean anything. If the learners do not have vocabulary, they cannot form sentences with the correct grammar. And while teaching vocabulary, students need to know meaning, spelling and pronunciation of a word, its use, collocation and grammar (word formation). She also stated various techniques of vocabulary teaching. Finally, she engaged all the participants with one task to separate vocabularies related to bodies of water and emotions.
The last session on the second day was of Jayanti Bhatta mam. She also taught us about ‘Vocabulary Teaching’. She also introduced us various techniques of vocabulary teaching. Some of the techniques introduced by Jayanti mam were ‘Homographs and Homophones’, ‘Thematic Organisation’, ‘Dealing with Pronunciation’ and ‘Teaching the Meaning of Prefix’.
Third Day (19th Ashadh, 2077)
On the third day of TPD training, Hom Raj Khadka sir started his session first. He introduced us about ‘E-learning and E-pedagogy’. He stated us the means of e-learning, benefits of e-learning and importance of e-learning. Then after he guided us about Google Classroom. He taught us how to create google class, how to assign assignment to students. He also introduced www.vocaroo.com for recording and sending our speaking(speech).
The next session on the same day was of Yub Raj Joshi sir. He facilitated us in ‘Teaching Grammar’. He defined grammar as the way words are put together to make correct sentences. Grammatical competence refers to the successful internalization of the rules of a language and their constraints. It is important for effective communication. He also introduced about deductive and inductive method of teaching grammar.
The last session on that day was of Prithivi Raj Bhatta sir. His session was about ‘Reader’s Theater’. He downloaded a reading drama from www.readinga-z.com and made us practice the drama by assigning different characters to random participants. His drama was ‘The Three Little Pigs’. I was also assigned a role to play. My role in the drama was the character of third little pig.
Fourth Day (20th Ashadh, 2077)
On the fourth day, the host sir started the training day and handed over the responsibility to lead the training to respected sir Mr. Harish Prasad Ojha. His topic of that session was ‘Action Research’. As per his presentation, research means search for knowledge, scientific investigation or inquiry of knowledge, solve existing problems, etc. According to Advance Learner’s Dictionary research is a careful investigation or inquiry specially through search for new facts in any branch of knowledge. So, we can say that research simply means to find out. There are six steps of research process: identify a research problem, review the literature, specify a purpose for research, collect data, analyze and interpret the data and finally write the report. He also explained about different types of research like empirical, historical, descriptive, co-relational, experimental, ethnographic, and action research. 
Action research is a reflective practice. Action research is not simply about understanding something better. It is about doing things differently. It is a concern both with ‘Action’ and ‘Research’. He also presented the characteristics, need, use and advantages of AR. At last, he presented some examples of action research. Jaynti Bhatt mam lead the next session on that day. She facilitated us in the topic ‘Teaching Listening’. She defined listening as a crucial part of daily communication on any language. Listening is described as an active skill: although their efforts are less invisible, listeners have to work very hard to make sense of the aural input. She also explained why listening is challenging. Then she presented some tips for teaching listening. After that she presented some examples of pre-listening and post listening. She also explained some steps for using audio recording to teach listening. 
The host of the TPD training, Navraj Pant sir, started the third session on that day himself. His session was also on ‘Teaching Listening’. He started his session with the crossword puzzle game. The game was really interesting and made us think broadly and creatively to solve the game. Then after the trainer sir led his session asking all the participants with real classroom problems and later on, he also attempted to find out the solutions to those classroom problems. Navraj sir presented difficulty factors in listening. He also presented some classroom activities (i.e. dictation, blindfolded walk, listening dialogues, etc.) to teach listening skill.
Fifth Day (21st Ashadh, 2077)
The fifth day of the training was started by Navraj Pant sir. His topic of the session was ‘Teaching Speaking’. He started his session with a tongue twisters exercise to be filled by all the participants and asked some random participants to practice those tongue twisters for a while. Such exercise really helps us for better and accurate pronunciation. He also presented some must have characteristics of 21st century teacher. Later on, he led his session with a game called hot air balloon. In the game there was a hot air balloon flying in the sky carrying five great personalities. After some time, the ballooon leaked and could carry only one person and all the persons had to save themselves. So, all the individuals needed to give reasons why they should survive not others. Such games really boost our speaking ability. Navraj Pant sir also presented some classroom activities that we can follow to teach speaking skill.
The next session was also on the same topic. And that session was led by Nirmala Thagunna. She put that “Speaking is the process of building and sharing meaning through the use of verbal and non-verbal symbols, in a variety of contexts” (Chaney, 1980, p.13). She also presented a sample speaking activity to teach present simple tense. She also stated that teachers have to provide real-life situations, have discussion, role play, simulations, information gap, brainstorming, storytelling, interviews, story completion, picture narrating, reporting, picture describing activities to teach speaking.
Jayanti Bhatt mam started the third session on that day. Her topic on that day was ‘Using Games in Teaching Learning Activities’. She started her session with a game. In the game she would utter a sentence consisting of two clauses and we had to take a word from the second clause and construct a sentence based on the same structure. All the participants tried their best to create new sentences based on the game rule. Later she clarified that her intension was to teach conditional sentence type 2 via games and students can learn anything via games unconsciously. She defined games, put forward the need(importance), advantages, disadvantages and types of games. Teaching through game is really interesting and effective.
Sixth Day (22nd Ashadh, 2077)
The sixth day of TPD training was started by respected sir Bhim Paneru with his session on ‘Multiple Intelligence Based Teaching’. But before starting his actual session, he discussed about various matters related to real classroom. Such matters are problem in teaching, things we need to consider, interest of the students. Finally, he tried to connect students’ interest with their future jobs and their intelligence. In this way he introduced multiple intelligences: Verbal(linguistic), logical(mathematical), visual(spatial), kinesthetic(bodily), musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic, and existential intelligence. He also presented various classroom activities as per their intelligence.
The second session on that was led by Navraj Pant sir. At first, he reminded us about why we teachers need to develop ourselves as professional one. He also talked about some issues in TPD and ways to enhance TPD. Then, he started his session on the topic ‘Grammar’. He presented some factors affecting grammatical choices. Finally, he presented a time table of a bus stop and asked all the participants to study it. Then he asked the participants some wh-questions based on the time table. In this way, he made us to practice some grammatical items. 
Nirmala Thagunna mam started the third session on that day on the topic ‘Teaching Reading’. At first, she asked and made us discuss about a hypothesis: learning to read vs reading to learn. Then she taught us about different types of reading: skimming and scanning, intensive reading and extensive reading. She also talked about the purpose, importance and advantage of such types of reading. Skimming is a kind of reading to get the idea of what a document is about and scanning is rapidly running your eyes over the text in order to locate specific details like name, date, etc.
Seventh Day (23rd Ashadh, 2077)
Prithivi Raj Bhatta sir led his first session on seventh day on the topic ‘Techniques to Enhance Student Achievement’. First of all, he gathered some techniques to enhance student achievement from all the participant teachers. Then he presented his views and points on the very topic effectively. He presented some specific techniques to enhance student achievement. They are enhancing students’ self-belief, promote learner autonomy, recognize that teaching and teachers are central to engagement, create active, collaborative learning, etc.
The second session was led by Yub Raj Joshi on the topic ‘Teaching Language Functions’. A language function explains why someone says something. A language function refers to what students do with language as they engage with content and interact with others. He also stated that one form of language can serve different functions and different functions can be served by one form. Se there is no one-to-one form-function relationship. In traditional approach, we used to focus on form but in modern approach we focus in meaning. Then he presented some stages of teaching language functions: presentation and production.
Bhim Paneru sir led the third session on that day on the topic ‘Online Searching and PPT in Mobile’. In his session he presented very useful online searching tips for fast, accurate and reliable materials. Those tips were really useful in our daily life. He also presented some useful websites that a teacher needs to be familiar to develop oneself professionally. Finally, he guided us step-by-step to create power point presentation in mobile which was quite useful for all the participants.
Eight Day (24th Ashadh, 2077)
Yub Raj Joshi sir started his first session on eight day on the topic ‘Teaching Literature’. At first, Yub Raj sir collected all the participants’ views about literature. Then he presented some definitions of literature. As per his presentation, literature begins in the creative possibilities of human language and in the desire of human beings to use their language creatively. Literature enriches our lives because it increases our capacities for understanding and communication. Literature is the creative faculty of mind. Then he presented some qualities of literature like artistry, suggestiveness, eternity, universality, originality of style, creative imagination, moral consciousness. He also presented the forms of literature as poetry, prose, drama, and fiction. He also presented the aims and objectives of teaching literature. Finally, he presented an example of teaching literature. He presented an example that how we can teach Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening poem composed by Robert Frost.
Navraj Pant sir presented the second session on that day. He also taught us about ‘Teaching Literature’. At first, he presented the need of literature for language teaching. Then he also presented how we teachers can teach poems. He gave an example of the poem The Road Not Taken composed by Robert Frost. He made all the participants to assume that we were students for his session and had to do the tasks accordingly. He first made us read the poem one by one stanza. Then he presented various exercises based on the poem.
The last session was led by Nirmala Thagunna mam. He guided us about ‘Teaching Writing’.  In her session, she made us arrange a list of sentences to make a readable story. Then we played a game in which every participant had to add a fruit name including all the fruits’ name told by the previous participants. Later she presented some specific activities for teaching writing skill. She also presented a list of writing skills.

Ninth Day (25th Ashadh, 2077)
Nirmala Thagunna mam led her first session on the ninth day of the TPD training. Her session was on ‘Classroom Language’. Due to some internet connectivity problem she couldn’t start her session properly, and to utilize that time Navraj sir presented some useful websites and their links for students as well as teachers. Then she started her session defining classroom language as language different from the language used for other purposes elsewhere (Awasthi, 2004). She listed out different situations for using classroom English language: beginning the class, ending the class, checking the attendance, group formation, praise and correction, talking to late comers, giving instructions and asking for information, controlling the class, etc. She also presented some typical examples of such classroom language. 
Parshu Ram Tiwari sir led the second and third session on the same topic ‘Reading Comprehension Item Development’. That session was really useful for us because we really needed such theoretical concepts while making test items and developing questions from a reading text. He also made us browse a website www.menti.com to collect our views, answers, etc. He taught us some specific ways to develop reading comprehension items. He stated that designing reading items includes text (reading material), process (mental or cognitive) and task (questions). There are three types of text: personal (for individual focus), local (for community focus) and global ( for external focus). And there are three types of text format: continuous, non-continuous and mixed. Later, he clarified us about text complexity in two ways: qualitatively and quantitatively. He also guided us how we can measure a text complexity simply going through  websites http://textinspector.com/ and www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/text-checker. Then we were engaged in a reading comprehension task and answer the given questions based on the text. 
At last, he presented Barrett Taxonomy of reading comprehension.  According to Barrett Taxonomy, there are five types of reading comprehension: literal, reorganization, inferencing, evaluating and appreciation. He also presented some more tasks for us to read texts and develop some questions from the text.
Tenth Day (26th Ashadh, 2077)
Last day of the TPD training, Bhim Paneru sir led only one session on ‘Cooperative learning in classroom teaching’ which was quite useful for use. Then Nirmala Thagunna man gave us an orientation of the project work and mentioned everything that we need to do in our project work.
Then we had an examination through google docs. After that there was the formal ending ceremony of the 10 day TPD training.
